Rednote Video Downloader
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the Rednote Video Downloader Android application (package com.rednotedl.app, hereafter “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. The app is published by TwoZeroTwo LLC.
Summary: The app has no backend. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. The app only contacts Rednote’s public CDN to download the video you ask for, and Google AdMob to display ads.
1. Who We Are #
The app is developed and published by:
- TwoZeroTwo LLC
- Registered address: 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA
- Privacy contact: cs@two02.io
- Data deletion requests: cs@two02.io (subject line: “Data deletion — Rednote Video Downloader”)
2. What the App Does #
Rednote Video Downloader lets you save publicly available videos from Rednote / Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book / XHS) directly to your Android device’s gallery. You paste a link, choose a resolution, and the app downloads the video from Rednote’s own public CDN. The app does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal information from you.
3. Information We Collect #
3.1 Information collected on our servers
None. The app has no backend, no user accounts, and no analytics that report to us. We do not see what videos you download, how often you use the app, or any identifier tied to you.
3.2 Information stored only on your device
- Download history — the list of videos you’ve downloaded (title, source URL, local file reference) is stored in the app’s local storage so the Library tab survives restarts. This data never leaves your device.
- Downloaded video files — saved to your device’s gallery / media library, exactly like any photo or video you save from another app.
- App preferences — UI settings such as default quality. Local only.
You can erase everything in this section at any time by clearing the app’s storage (Android Settings → Apps → Rednote Video Downloader → Storage → Clear Data) or by uninstalling the app.
3.3 Information collected by third-party SDKs
The app embeds the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK to show ads. AdMob collects information independently of us — see section 5 for details.
4. Permissions #
The app requests the minimum permissions needed for its features:
- Internet (
android.permission.INTERNET) — to fetch the video you requested from Rednote’s public CDN and to load ads. - Network state (
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — to detect whether you’re online and to pause / resume downloads appropriately. - Write to media library — so saved videos appear in your gallery. On Android 10+, this uses the system MediaStore (no broad storage access). On Android 9 and below, the legacy storage permissions are used for the same purpose.
- Advertising ID (
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — declared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Used by AdMob to serve ads. You can reset this ID or opt out of personalized ads at any time in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
The app does not request: location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, phone, calendar, or read access to your photos or other media files.
5. Third-Party SDKs #
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK)
- What it collects: your device’s advertising ID, approximate (coarse) location derived from your IP address, ad-interaction events, and basic device and network information.
- Why: to serve and measure ads (rewarded and interstitial), including personalized ads where you have consented.
- Controls: reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
- AdMob app ID used by this app:
ca-app-pub-7167112230312691~5429242066 - AdMob privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- How Google uses data from sites and apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
Where required by GDPR or local law, the app presents a consent form (provided by Google’s UMP SDK) before AdMob initializes. Your choice is stored locally on your device and can be changed in the app’s settings.
The app contains no other analytics, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
6. Network Traffic #
While the app is running, it may connect to:
- Rednote / Xiaohongshu public CDN and pages —
xhslink.com,xiaohongshu.com,sns-video-bd.xhscdn.com,sns-video-hw.xhscdn.com,sns-video-alos.xhscdn.com— to resolve the link you pasted and download the video. No login, cookies, or personal information are sent. - Google AdMob servers — to load and report on ads.
- Expo Updates (
u.expo.dev) — the app uses Expo’s over-the-air update channel to deliver bug fixes between Play Store releases. Only an anonymous build identifier is exchanged; no personal data is sent. - Google Fonts — the first launch may download the Inter font family. Cached afterwards.
The app does not connect to any TwoZeroTwo-operated server.
7. Data Retention #
- On our servers: not applicable — we hold nothing about you.
- On your device: retained until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
- AdMob data: retained by Google according to its own policies (linked in section 5).
8. Data Sharing #
Because we do not collect personal data, we have nothing to share. The only data leaving your device is what is described in section 6, and it goes directly to those third parties — it does not pass through us. We never sell or rent personal information.
9. Your Rights and Choices #
Universal rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because the app does not collect personal data on our servers, most of these rights are satisfied automatically — there is nothing on our side to access or delete. Still, you can email cs@two02.io with any request and we will respond within 30 days.
How to delete your data
- App data on your device: Android Settings → Apps → Rednote Video Downloader → Storage → Clear Data, or uninstall the app.
- Downloaded video files: delete them from your gallery like any other video.
- AdMob data: reset your advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads, or opt out of personalized ads there.
- Server-side data: not applicable — we hold nothing.
10. Regional Disclosures #
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Controller: TwoZeroTwo LLC (address in section 1).
- Lawful bases: (a) consent — for personalized ads, collected via the in-app consent form; (b) legitimate interests — for non-personalized ads and basic ad delivery, balanced against your rights.
- International transfers: any data collected by Google AdMob may be transferred outside the EEA / UK under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards put in place by Google.
- Right to complain: you may complain to your local data protection authority.
California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CPRA. Personalized advertising via AdMob may be considered “sharing” in some interpretations; you can opt out by refusing consent in the in-app consent form or by enabling “Opt out of Ads Personalization” in Android settings.
Other US states
We honor equivalent privacy rights for residents of any US state with a comprehensive privacy law. Email cs@two02.io to submit a request.
11. Children’s Privacy #
The app is not directed to children under 13 (US, COPPA) or under 16 (EEA / UK, GDPR), and we do not knowingly allow children below those ages to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, email cs@two02.io.
12. Security #
All connections from the app to remote servers use HTTPS / TLS encryption in transit. Because the app stores data only on your device, the security of that data depends on the protections of your device (screen lock, OS-level encryption, etc.). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy #
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective date.” Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
